Aluminum sheet material can be single- or double-embossed in a variety of patterns. Double-embossing allows for a deeper pattern by drawing the material through offsetting embossing rolls. Embossed material can be painted and lineally brushed to emphasize the pattern with the remaining color.
We use multi-axis milling machines to create dimensional patterns in the material. Once milled, we can soften the appearance by applying a number of surface treatments and finishes.
Hydraulic Pressing and Hydro Forming provide unique opportunities to create short run patterns. We use Hydraulic Pressing to impose impressions in the face of the material after hot working the base metal. Hydro Forming allows the metal to be formed without thinning during the forming process.
A traditional method of imposing a pattern on thin metal, this craft has transcended from small objects to architectural applications. The depth and complexities of the pattern are a function of the metal alloy and the artisan’s talents.
The expanding and weaving process not only adds texture and visual interest to the material, but increases the coverage area with less metal. A wide range of post-fabrication finishes can be applied for additional tonality and luster.
Available in both closed cell and open cell foam, the material creates visual interest as an architectural feature. In addition, the material is effective at reducing sound transmission.
The anodizing process allows the character of the aluminum to be expressed through the finish, while the electrolytic process increases the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of the aluminum. Anodizing is available in a range of colors including organic tones, highly-pigmented colors, and clear.
We cast metals using traditional sand, platen and lost wax investment casting. Each method has distinct advantages and the results offer different levels of refinement and interest.
